Happy New Year!

Figured I better post here and let you know that I made a new account for the new year. I've been wanting to change my name for months, and now that I'm into the habit of updating whenever I write I have finally decided to make the move.

So dear ladies and gentlemen-in-training, you can now find me here:

Wow. I won. In eight days.
Speechless now. Really. I can't think of anything to say.

Favourite lines from today:
Not a single word can be heard as he attaches his mouth to the man's exposed collar bone, his tongue making small rings of saliva upon the flesh. He feels a hand falling upon his waist. From this moment onwards, he knows whatever he does from now on all can not be classed as rape later.

Oh wow. Considering that it took me forever to get going today, I'm shocked that I actually made it to 7k. Every time I tried to stop I found another goal I wanted to reach. Now my wrists are beginning to ache a little, so I'm just going to take it easy until morning. I only have 5k to go until hitting the goal, and I don't want to be going "and he [ow] then [ow] insert his [ow]..." during tomorrows writing session.

So, tomorrows aim: hit 50k!

Managed just over 3k today. I really could not be bothered with writing, so it was a struggle to pound it out today. But at least that is it written. Only 11,824 words to go!

Still ill today, but managed another 2.5k. Very slowly making my way towards the goal. The writing itself isn't too great, but I really liked one paragraph. I've taken a snippet from it for today's "Favourite Lines", but haven't actually quoted my favourite part of it. Why? The bit I've chosen is there to give you an idea on how Pierrot sees the people he comes into contact with.

I'm dying. Well, not literally. But close enough. I had the second of three Cervarix injections today, and the nurse asked everyone except me if they had been ill recently. So now I'm in a bit of a state.

But I did manage to crank out 2.5k today. It's the least I've produced so far this month, but at least they're words.

Right now I feel as if I can do anything. It is the third day of NaNoWriMo, and I've just broken the 30k mark. I wrote 8.5k today, and considering that I'm *once again* ill I'm amazed. Do you know what shocks me even more? Most of the time I actually like what I'm writing. Working at such a fast pace really works for me. I don't have time to get bored, because I'm getting through the plot fairly quickly. Yet there is so much left of it still to go.

I can hardly believe that in three days, I have almost written as much as I wrote in all of October.

Finally, my favourite writing event of the year has arrived! November 1st marks the beginning of National Novel Writing Month. The moment the clock ticked over into the eleventh month of the year an email arrived from the regions ML. Then the writing frenzy began in this part of the world.

I managed to shock myself. My notes for the first nine thousand words were very thorough, and I managed to pound out 7k in two hours. When I have an average of roughly 2 - 3k an hour, that was really surprising! A pleasant surprise, mind. In a total of four hours of writing (not all at once, done in two blocks of time) I managed to crank out just over 11,000 words. A fantastic way to start the month, in my opinion.

So, what has my hard work been going into? A literary fiction novel titled Vos Poings. So, what is it about? Click here to find out. )

Not feeling too great now though, so am going to have an early night (well, early for me) and then get up nice and early and start writing again.

It's not what I want to say, but I think I may have to drop out of GothNo. I'm ill again, and with the current word count to win being 3.5k a day I don't believe I'm going to be able to finish. It's just too difficult -- and this is only the decline. I'm not going to push myself to work, especially with November only a week away.

I was also planning to aim high in NaNoWriMo this year, but I think I'll drop the goal to the standard 50k. Hmm.

I really wasn't fussed about writing today, but considering that I'd managed to get my expected finishing date down to November 2nd I didn't want to risk anything. So I sat and managed to pound out 3k, and now according to my spreadsheet I'm expected to reach 60k on the 1st of November. Give me a day or two and that'll all change. I need to finish writing by 11:59pm, October 31st at the latest.

Today's line isn't actually my favourite from today's writing session, but rather just the first line of dialogue from the delusional Brian Hotham. But is it really him; and is it really their first meeting?

I forgot about writing until 11:10pm today. How can I actually forget? I really don't know. But I managed to write 2,494 words in those fifty minutes which brought my overall total up to 32,000. Which now means I'm only a day behind... for a couple of minutes at least. Once the clock ticks over to midnight it'll be two days. But still, that's not bad!

I don't actually like anything I wrote today, but here's the paragraph that sucks the least:

Favourite lines from today:
An unpleasant snort rang through the air, and Luce's long, pale legs began kicking wildly against the duvet. He choked upon the fabric for a moment before sitting up. I do believe that I am in love. With what, you may ask? My novel. Ha, how pathetic does that sound? But really, every time I tried to stop writing I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Or I'd leave for a maximum of ten minutes, and then I'd start thinking about it again. This sudden love of my novel led to 6k of writing. So I'm definitely not arguing! I'm just 496 words short of the half way mark right now. If it wasn't for my protesting hands I'd continue writing -- but I don't want to hurt in the morning.

Today, instead of my favourite line from the session I'll be giving you the entry Francis read from Brian Hotham's journal. It was interesting writing from the point of view of Brian. He's a peculiar character compared to my usual lot. I wanted to make it sound surreal; a bit like a dream.

Just a warning though: it hasn't been spell checked or amended since it was written. So if there are appalling errors in there try not to scream.

I managed to write 2,647 words today. I'm slowly filling in that hole I dug for myself by not writing for five days. My hands and arms ache, and about half an hour ago I was actually tempted to go onto the GothNo site and reduce my goal. Then I thought stuff it, and began hammering away in Q10. In that half an hour I managed 1.6k, compared to my usual pace of 1,000 per half hour. How's that for motivation?

I actually forgot to write yesterday. I have no idea how I managed to forget, but I didn't realise until 12:02am this morning.

But considering that I really couldn't be bothered writing today turned out brilliant. I introduced the snitch, Edwin Dallas, and wrote out the first of the three scenes where Francis gets in trouble. He was also invited to join Operation Jackie during today's writing session. So all went well and I managed to churn out a little over 3k.

Tomorrow I'll make a start on Chapter 4. This is where Francis will realise his feelings for Luce; the first of the Operation Jackie meetings will take place; and the second time Francis gets in trouble with Sister Agnes will occur.

I really wasn't motivated to write today, but I knew that I couldn't afford to fall any further behind. I managed to churn out 2.5k, so that's not too bad. According to my spread sheet, I need 2,356 words a day to make 60k by the end of GothNo. So it's not the end yet.

Today's line is from a conversation between Luce and his biology teacher. I really enjoyed writing it. The snippet I've taken doesn't make as big an impact on it's own, but I didn't want to quote the whole thing. It's totally immature and is spoken by my personal favourite character: Luce. He makes everything a lot more fun to write. The conversation also happens to turn sexual whenever he's involved as well. Hmm.

Today's writing session has totally killed my right arm. The last three hundred words were typed mostly one-handed. But hey, at least it's written. I think I'm going to relax for a bit now. I wanted to write more, but my arm won't be able to take it.

I get to start on explaining the legend tomorrow though. That'll be fun.

Wow. Today I actually liked what was produced. I wasn't really in the mood to write today, but I really don't want to fall behind. Especially now that I've found I'm going to be busy on the ninth.

My friend Megan and I are going to be photographing the school disco for the first to third year students (for the record, I'm a fifth year) Thursday evening. The disco is taking place to raise money for an organization called CHAS, and we're writing an article for the paper on it. She's also staying over Thursday night -- so I won't really have much time to write before I have to meet her at the school around 7pm.
